Serves as a Systems Engineer for a Linux/VMWare infrastructure. Candidate is expected to be the subject matter expert (SME) for all Linux/VMWare support requirements.
Oversees the gathering of requirements, develops requirements analysis and system design, supports system development, performs system integration and testing of related products.
Day-to-day responsibilities include will include some hand-ons administration of Linux/VMWare equipment and monitoring and resolving problems in a world-wide network of servers and workstations. The SE shall provide on-site customer support, answering and responding to all reported systems concerns and/or system outages. Installs hardware/software, conducts system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software and security related problems. Performs system backups and recovery. Maintains user accounts, data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Conducts informal training, maintains documentation, and provides front line support for IT related problems. Provides on-site scheduled, on call, extended hour and weekend support as required.
Provides input to the design of the organization's systems and mission architecture. Analyzes and resolves complex problems associated with server hardware, applications and software integration. Participates in technical interchange meetings (TIMs) with government personnel and delivers conference reports, trip reports, and routine weekly status reports as required.
REQUIRED
- 5 years of experience in designing and developing secure systems or providing
information system security engineering security support for such systems.
- 6 years of server-level LINUX/VMWARE SA experience.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work within a team.
- Excellent customer skills.
- Good understanding of LAN/WAN operations.
- Good understanding of TCP/IP concepts.
- Good verbal and written communications.
DESIRED
- Experience administering Network Appliance (NetApp) filers.
- Knowledge of CISCO routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Familiarity with Oracle Database and Application Servers.
- Experience with Veritas NetBackup.
- Network+ Certification.

| Qualifications: | Education:
Bachelors degree, or have six years over the required amount for degree equivalency.
Clearance required-TS/SCI with Counterintelligence or Full Scope Polygraph
